Cheat Sheet: Easy Placements

When you first learn about a placement, the obvious thing to do is look for descriptions, however these can be extremely unhelpful. Why? No description will ever fully encapsulate a placement. It will focus on one idea of it, or go straight to possible conclusions without explaining why those could be true.

Instead, I prefer to take the ‘anti-description’ route. When I start learning, I look to each part of the placement for its ingredients and build them together myself. In this way, you can see all the possible conclusions a placement may take.

With this in mind, I’ve compiled a cheat sheet of possible ingredients of each aggregate: signs, modalities, elements, planets, houses, and aspects!

Charlotte Brontë and Jane Eyre: Astrological Links

It’s undeniable that Charlotte Brontë based a lot of the feelings and events of Jane Eyre on her own personal experiences, even if she didn’t mean to. From certain names to character roles, Jane Eyre’s life appears to resemble Charlotte’s. For this reason, I analysed Brontë’s chart to see if it appeared linked to Jane Eyre’s attitudes and behaviours. I always saw fire in the character of Jane, mainly Aries, and so my first hypothesis before pulling Brontë’s chart up was that she would have, perhaps, Aries Moon Continue reading Charlotte Brontë and Jane Eyre: Astrological Links

The Stream of Doing Good

All signs aim to to good by others in some way, shape or form. Aries wants to inspire confidence in you, Gemini wants to be the one to talk you through your problems, and Capricorn wants to be a nurturing advisor. Amongst all the signs, however, there is a stream of signs who focus their energy on doing good by and for others. This stream lies from Cancer to Libra.

Manifestations: Developed and Undeveloped

Whilst the line between developed and undeveloped placements is sometimes blurred, it is undeniable that there are positive and negative manifestations of everything you can see within a chart. This post is a quick discussion of this concept and how it’s factors are not as clear cut as some may perceive.

How To Find Your Placements

Go here: (x).This is the most accurate site I have found to use. You’ll get a chart that looks like mine (x). Don’t be scared off by the technicality, I know it seems like a lot, but just start with the little steps until you get into it!

If you want to work out your dominant planet/sign/element mathematically, go here: (x). Then, hover over Free Horoscopes in the bar, and click the option Extended Chart Selection under Drawings And Calculations. Click guest user and input your information. After this you will see a box saying Method, and various types of chart. Click the last one – Pullen/Astrolog. In the drop down, click the last option of Simple Chart Delineation By Walter Pullen. Then, click the show chart button. It is very long and goes through a lot of your placements. If you scroll to the bottom, you will find details on what conjuncts in your chart and what it means, as well as sextiles, squares, etc. About two thirds of the way down you will find your signs, and the percentage of dominance.

You can find a really helpful video by Lara @astrology-addict here on how to use the site mentioned above!

Another way to find your dominants mathematically is to use laratesting.us – designed by @geministereo and coded by @astrology-addict – this method was created to put more emphasis on personal placements as the site above tends to give equal wait to generational planets, meaning a whole generation could have the same dominants by their system, but not in this one.

The Natural Planetary Trines

Often when thinking about aspects, we consider the signs which naturally form them. For example, the same elements forming a trine, or the same modality forming a square. Whilst aspects rely on the degrees of planets, there is still something to be said about the energy and bond of signs that will usually form aspects with others. We can say that earth signs are harmonious with each other as they is understanding and mutual respect, and this can be seen through the trine aspect that they may form with each other.

What is less talked about, however, is planets that form aspects. Some planets have a mutual reception and respect for each other due to how the ruling sign of them interact, which is what will be discussed in this post. The ruling trines of the planets are what I like to call ‘natural trines’ as the planets involved relate to each other due to their ruling signs. This theory can also be used with sextiles, squares, or any other aspect.

Entwining Your Dominant Energies

I’ve noticed a lot of people seem to make the mistake of taking only the first dominant sign or planet, but your dominants works more as a rank than as one true thing.Everyone has every sign/planet/element/modality within them. Each sign will have some amount of prevalence in your chart. Whether it only sits on a house cusp, or is in a planet placement in your chart. Still, for this reason, it’s key to look at dominants as encompassing yourself, rather than defining yourself by one sign of planet.

For example, my dominant sign is Libra, but this would not be enough to understand or study me. I would also take my next two: Virgo and Sagittarius. Then, I could start to study these signs and their archetypes, and see how they can relate to me as a whole.

That’s the key to dominants: it is you as a whole. They work as a flash point, a conclusion, to your chart. I like to use the analogy of a blurb to a book. They’re the part of you which quickly gives as idea of the details to come. Each sign or planet has a certain set of values and characteristics, which when you combine with the other most prominent dominants you have, can act as almost a small biography of who you are.
